European wildlife experts will explore the "Enchanted Land"
Yesterday, April 27, experts of the "European society for wildlife conservation" arrived to Transcarpathia to conduct certification of the National Park "Enchanted Land". The organization aims to identify natural areas that have not been affected by humans and to develop measures for their conservation.
The director of the Department of Environment Vitaliy Semal welcomed guests from European countries, introduced all environmental policies undertaken by the department in the region, and expressed interest in working with European colleagues.
"Ukraine has turned its face to Europe and we hope that you will not make the same mistakes that Europe has made. Once we killed almost all wolves, and now we have a program of their protection, we had an intensive forest industry - now we are preserving green space" - the deputy chairman of the European Society Max Rosberg addressed nature conservationists.
The experts will stay in Transcarpathia for 10 days. The working group includes representatives of the Department of Environment, the European organization and the National Park "Enchanted Land". During this time, the experts will be exploring wildlife of the Enchanted Land, will cover 1332 hectares, get familiarized with the strengths of the Ukrainian legislation. These activities will allow the park to become a full member of the European network of parks, will facilitate cooperation in science and sustainable development of the institution with partners from European countries.
