“Easter cake for a soldier”: Transcarpathian community sent more than 15 tons of Easter goodies to the East (PHOTOS)

About ten shipments of tasty gifts with Easter spirit were sent these days to the East for Transcarpathian soldiers – in total more than 15 tons.

During the campaign "Easter cake for a soldier", native inhabitants gathered everything to help create a holiday atmosphere even at checkpoints, where our countrymen are deployed directly on the front line.

The idea of ​​the volunteers to sent soldiers Easter attributes was supported by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal, who invited countrymen to join and help bring a taste of the holiday to the front. All district gladly responded to the call and within two days a huge amount of food was delivered to the volunteer warehouse in Uzhgorod.

Primarily, it is Easter cakes and meat specialties such as ham and home-made sausage, which is an integral part of the Easter basket. Easter sets also included painted eggs and themed souvenirs made by children from the orphanage in Chynadiyevo and Transcarpathian kids in general. Together Transcarpathians prepared a lot of food for shipment to the East – fat, meat, butter and sweets, and of course Transcarpathian coffee, and many cans. 

 

Of course, before shipment, the cargo was consecrated by priests of the Orthodox and Greek Catholic faiths. The Holy Fathers also blessed volunteers for a long road.

Every Easter cake, every product is "seasoned" with genuine love and care of Transcarpathians about their defenders.

The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration attended the consecration of the cargo and thanked all who took part in the campaign. The head of the region emphasized that Transcarpathian soldiers should receive not only gifts, but above all the sign that at home people think about them and how they will celebrate the great holiday.
