Battle of the smartest (PHOTOS)
On April 8, 2015, the Chess Federation of Uzhgorod supported by the Department of Education and the Department of Culture, Sport, Family and Youth of Uzhgorod City Council held a command-personal city chess championship among teams of secondary schools for prizes of "WHITE ROOK".
50 students (38 boys and 12 girls), representing 11 schools took part in the competition in the Transcarpathian Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity "Padiyun".
The tournament was held under the Swiss system with 5 rounds by the rules of rapid chess. Student of the school №3 Dzhurdzha Artem, who scored 5 points, gained a confident victory. The second place was won by student of the school №5 - Yakovlyev Maxim, representative of the school №20 Mieszko Janek won the third place. Among girls, the winners were Eugenia Tymoshenko (Prolisok), Lilia Markovtsiy and Anastasia Prysych (both from the school №1).
In the team competition, the team of the school №5, represented by Maxim and Mykyta Yakovlevs, Vadim Afanasiev and Anastasia Hubal, won. The team of the Linguistic school became the silver medalists, school №20 - bronze medalists. The 3 top teams, according to the regulations, gained the right to participate in the finals for the prizes of "WHITE ROOK" that will take place in Mukachevo on 17 May.
