Smuggled cigarettes were found during an in-depth inspection of the truck at the checkpoint of the customs post "Uzhgorod-cargo" of the Transcarpathian customs office.
A Ukrainian planned to cross the border with Slovakia carrying domestic tobacco products with excise stamps, and foreign – without excise stamps. Those were «L&M», «Dubao», «812», «Merilyn», «Yesmoke», «Busines Club» and «D&B».
Arriving to the checkpoint, the citizen reported that his truck was empty and he was not carrying any goods and items hidden from customs control. However, taking into account the risks and sending the vehicle for in-depth inspection, customs officers, together with officers of Chop border guard detachment and the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region found a double bottom in the truck. Access to the smuggled tobacco became possible only after the dismantling of the refrigerator floor. The total amount of the cigarettes was 24,170 packs.
These actions of the Ukrainian have signs of violation of customs rules provided under Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
According to the law, the truck and the cigarettes, the cost of which is being established, were confiscated.
