She is over 100 years old and still welcomes visitors

This year, a resident of the village of Vertep in Khust district Hafiya Likhtey will turn 101 years old. The old lady born in 1913 speaks fluently. However we must ask loudly, because her hearing is weak.

How do you feel, how’s your health? – we ask the old lady. – Poor. I cannot dance anymore, – she replies smiling.

We found the old lady at home during the Christmas holidays. "I once sang carols too, but now I can not." However, Mrs. Hafiya is always glad to receive carolers. She really likes it when they sing. By the way, on television she also likes to watch and listen to singing. She is not interested in the news or politics. However, local residents say that the old lady always goes to the voting station, and never votes at home.

Mrs. Hafiya’s husband died at the age of 92 years. The woman remembers her husband with great respect. She regrets that he is no longer among the living, because she is sure that with him it would be easier for her.

The old lady is taken care of by her daughter who comes from Khust, and a neighbor is always there when needed.

Hafiya Likhtey had four children, two sons died early. One daughter often visits the mother, the other one lives in other region of Ukraine.
