Ukraine has limited the electricity exports by 50%

The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, due to lack of steam coal, much of which is produced in the combat zone in the east of Ukraine, has restricted exports of electricity by 50%.

It was reported to the "UNIAN" by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan.

According to the Deputy Director of National Energy Company "Ukrenergo" Serhiy Kornyush, export of electricity in the direction of "Dobrotvir TPP - Poland" today is not carried out.

However Prodan said that the current situation in the energy system of Ukraine is not so critical to introduce a temporary suspension of power supply to the population, as it was in the 90s.

"It is not such a critical mass to introduce schedule (of power supply limitation). We are preparing for it, but the situation is not so critical yet," - Prodan said.

According to the minister, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry conducts talks with regional power companies, so that they, in turn, agreed to reduce power consumption in their regions.
