Transcarpathian doctors also help Ukrainian Army
The union members - employees of health care institutions in Transcarpathian region - have actively joined the campaign to raise funds for troops in Eastern Ukraine. Donations in the amount of one-day salary, trade union funds were transferred by medical institutions to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the army.
As of August 15, 2014, health workers of Transcarpathian region in total have donated more than 300,000 UAH for the needs of the army, as well as 400 first aid kits, 100 tourniquets, 46 bullet-proof vests for the soldiers in Luhansk and Donetsk regions. The medics of Transcarpathian regional Centre of Emergency Medicine donated a van for the needs of the battalion.
Additionally, by decision of the Presidium of the Transcarpathian Regional Trade Council, trade unions of health care and spa facilities transferred 23,000 UAH (as of 15.08.2014) to the charitable account of the Transcarpathian Regional Trade Concil for logistical support of the Transcarpathia territorial defense battalion (the village of Orikhovytsya, Uzhgorod district).
In August 2014, Transcarpathian Regional Trade Union Organization purchased 12 fourth-generation bullet-proof vests for protection of healthcare workers working in the ATO area at 36,000 UAH.
The Head of the Health Care Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Shnitser RI, the head of regional trade union Turok VM thank to everyone who has contributed to a good cause - helping our military.
Trade Union of Health Care Workers of Ukraine through the social dialogue with the government insists on:
- Covering health care workers, who are working in Donetsk and Luhansk regions or have died in the line of duty, with the status of combatants.
- Increasing wage of health care workers who provide medical care to soldiers and victims of war.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, taking into account social responsibility of medical workers, supports the position of trade unions.
