The international forum "Exports to the EU" has begun in Uzhgorod

Today, the International Forum "Exports to the EU" was opened in Uzhgorod. This is a remarkable event. Transcarpathia takes on the role of the main gate between Ukraine and the EU. This is natural, because our land is the most western region which is bordered by four EU countries. Transcarpathia assumes responsibility for building an effective platform for direct business interaction between Ukraine and the EU, with emphasis on exporting to the EU.

The Forum organizers are Transcarpathian Regional Council and the specialized exhibition company "Kratos" (Kryvy Rih), which initiated the project.

The registered participants are from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic; guests from other EU countries are also expected. From Ukraine, representatives of western, central, northern, southern and eastern regions, including the Donbas are registered. Among the participants, there are both giants of world renown, and medium and small enterprises.   In total, more than 150 companies participate in the event.

The Forum is also attended by regional development agencies from Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Hungarian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, the Hungarian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, representatives of four ministries of Ukrainian government, the Club of exporters of Ukraine, the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency.

The Forum was opened on Thursday at eleven o'clock with the participation of government officials, consul generals, directors of Chambers of Commerce. According to the technical organizer of the forum, the director of the "Kratos" company Dmytro Miroshnikov, the event is to become a powerful incentive for those companies that want to develop new markets in Europe. This is relevant in view of the ratification of the Association Agreement with the European Union.

The chairman of the organizing committee of the Forum, the first deputy chairman of the regional council Vasyl Brenzovych addressed the participants.

"We are pleased to announce that more than 150 enterprises, companies, agencies and other organizations from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic and other EU countries are registered as the Forum participants.

During the Forum, you will have the opportunity to hear presentations of dozens of experts from Ukraine and from abroad, to communicate with European businessmen and officials, to establish mutually beneficial contacts, see the exhibition, get acquainted with Transcarpathia and receive useful information and interesting acquaintances.

Organizing the Forum, we knew that it was a difficult time for that and it would not be easy to gather participants, but we are also aware that this forum is needed more than ever, that those new business relationships, those agreements that will be concluded as a result of the Forum maybe not immediately, but later will ensure economic security and independence of the Ukrainian state, without which no political independence and no independence at all is possible. Your participation is another confirmation that Ukraine has many good friends in the world, that our country is developing and has excellent prospects", - Vasyl Brenzovych said.

The Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloha thanked numerous companies for such attention to the Forum and for participation in it.

"Investment activity, the development of cross-border cooperation, development of the infrastructure are among the most important priorities of the regional authorities. Today, Transcarpathia has officially established partnerships with 14 regions of the European Union countries - Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Germany, Spain and others.Transcarpathian region as a target region of Ukraine is actively involved in the 5 partnership and neighborhood programs of the European Union.

The creation of an attractive investment image for Transcarpathia is among the main priorities of our activity Transcarpathia has great a potential which has not yet been fully discovered.

As for Transcarpathia, I want to assure you that we are always open for serious partners, we are committed to the full expansion of economic ties with the regions of Ukraine as well as regions of the European Union countries, and are willing to accept investment in Transcarpathian economy in order to make products here that will be competitive in the global market. We hope that the Forum will promote mutually beneficial dialogue between all participants and will help to find reliable partners for cooperation. This will have a positive projection for Transcarpathia too" - the Regional Council Chairman said

The Head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal said that such forum is a powerful stimulus for economic development. "Transcarpathian region, due to its geopolitical position, takes an active position in the field of cross-border cooperation. Bordering four European countries, Transcarpathia has all the prerequisites to become a center of cross-border and inter-regional relations that will ultimately help strengthen international relations and solve regional problems.

Now, such forums have to become a platform for the realization of our aspirations to Europe. Transcarpathia as the westernmost region of Ukraine has strong contacts with many countries of the European Union and is a bridge to further European integration. We have to support our exporters, because we have to come to the EU as strong partners", - the head of the RSA said.

The Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Janka Burianova also addressed the audience.

"Slovakia is committed to become a gateway for exports from Transcarpathia to Europe. We can also be a gateway for foreign capital to the development of your economy. Yes, Ukraine is going through difficult times, but friends from Europe are ready to continue to help you," - the diplomat said.

The Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bochkai said that Hungary for many years has been a reliable partner for Ukraine, and it will continue to be so. "Despite the difficulties, we are with you. Hungary supports the strong Ukraine, its territorial integrity. We managed to implement many joint economic and social projects, and especially in Transcarpathia. So shall it be in the future" - József Bochkayi said.

The Forum will last three days. On Saturday, there will be a closing ceremony and awarding of the participants.
