Regional prosecutor did everything they could...

Prosecutors have forwarded reports in the media about possible criminal offenses during the privatization of the "Crown", the sale of the building, etc. to the Ministry of Internal Affairs Office in Transcarpathian region for responding.

This was done because it is the appropriate division of the MIA Office which has the powers to respond to those offenses - according to Art. 216 of the CCP of Ukraine - it is their exclusive investigative jurisdicton, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office informed.

"As for prosecutors of Transcarpathian region, we have always demanded the annulment of the tender for the sale of the municipal property, which we have regularly announced in the media."

In particular, there have been more than 100 hearings on the so-called "case of the Crown" in commercial disputes and in criminal proceedings.  Regarding the latter, we have the judgment that has entered into force. It concerns the criminal investigation into the illegal actions of officials of the ME "BTI of Uzhgorod", Uzhgorod City Council, as well as employees of the appraiser company that performed the assessment of the hotel and restaurant complex "Crown" during the privatization. Perpetrators are convicted.

As for commercial lawsuits, we have appealed to all existing courts in the country to defend our position, starting with the Commercial Court of Transcarpathian region and ending with the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine.

However, in March, the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine refused to consider the issue. That is, at present, we have exhausted all options to challenge this issue in courts.

Recall, that possible removal of the current head of the Prosecution Office in Transcarpathia Oleg Sydorchuk from his post is attributed by he media to delays in resolving the situation regarding the privatization of the former restaurant "Crown" in Uzhgorod.
