"The week of Ukrainian cinema in support of Oleg Sentsov" will take place in Uzhgorod (ANNOUNCEMENT)
On October 16, "The week of Ukrainian ciname in support of Oleg Sentsov" will take place in Uzhgorod.
Organized with the participation of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema and the Oleksander Dovzhenko National Center, "The week of Ukrainian cinema in support of Oleg Sentsov" will be held for the fifth time: before this, the event was held in Kyiv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lutsk. The aim of the minifestival is to raise awareness of the fate of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov illegally arrested in the Crimea and transported to Russia for public condemnation in order to intimidate "dissentients."
Oleg’s film, "Hamer" which opens "The week of..." in Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theatre (Theatre Square, 8) is a relevant and important story of individual, small people who are considered outcasts by the society.
Ukrainian films have also remained without public attention - both because of their low quality, and because of their invisibility. "The week of Ukrainian cinema in support of Oleg Sentsov" is aimed to change the situation a little, featuring 6 different Ukrainian films ranging from artistic musical comedy ("The Trumpeter"), to historical dramas ("Paradjanov") and topical documentaries about the war (anthology of short films "Babylon '13").
