In Uzhgorod experts discussed the prospects of the construction of international highway in Transcarpathia

The conference "Prospects of the development of the M34 motorway segment in the border areas of Hungary and Ukraine" (Zahony-Chop-Uzhgorod) took place in Uzhgorod. They discussed important projects for building of logistics transport ways in Transcarpathia. 

  The purpose of the meeting of Ukrainian and foreign experts in Uzhgorod was the analysis and presentation of capabilities for the construction of international highway corridor №5 in the border areas of Hungary and Ukraine, in particular, on the stretch Zahony-Chop-Uzhgorod. The meeting was organized by the Association of Regional Development "KIUT" (the city of Zahony, Hungary), the Public Association of Development of Upper Szabolcs Region and the Regional Branch of the National Institute for Strategic Studies in Uzhgorod.   The event was funded by the International Visegrad Fund.

In their speeches, representatives of the government, academia and NGOs of Hungary and Ukraine discussed the prospects and plans for development of the transport sector in the border areas between the two countries, a network of state roads and highways, integration of the transport system of Ukraine into the Euro-Asian transport system, the concept of development of transport sector and economy in the cross-border region Ukraine-Hungary-Slovakia and other issues.
