In Transcarpathia, the Russian Drama Theatre does not want to be called "Russian"

The staff of the Transcarpathian Regional State Russian Drama Theatre of Mukachevo decided to change the name of the theater, the "Panorama Mukacheva" informed.

According to the director of the theater, honored artist of Ukraine Yuriy Shutyuk, it was decided at the meeting of the staff. The word "Russian" will be removed from the name of the theater.

Documents for renaming of the theater are already at the regional authorities. It is expected that the new sign will appear on the walls of the theater in a week.

According to the manager of the theater, there are two reasons for the renaming: "Firstly, due to military operations in eastern Ukraine. Secondly, our theater is multinational. There are representatives of many nationalities in the company. And the repertoire is performed in two languages: Ukrainian and Russian. Therefore, our company decided not to focus on one minority," - Yuriy Shutyuk said.
