In Transcarpathia, 1161 persons suffer from ARVI and influenza

According to the head of the epidemic monitoring and sanitary protection department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in Transcarpathian region Victoria Dordyay, during the 40th calendar week of 2014, 1161 people turned to health care institutions of the region about ARVI and influenza, which is 32.0% (566 cases) less compared to the 40th week of 2013. 68.1% of cases (791) are children under 17 years. The incidence rate of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections among the population of the region is 9.2 per 10 thousand people, which is 65.3% below the epidemic threshold. The highest incidence of ARVI is recorded in the city of Uzhgorod, and the lowest – in Mukachevo district. Among children, the highest incidence is registered in the age group of 0-4 years old (346 cases). 7.4% of the total of cases were hospitalized, of which 89.5% are children.

Virology laboratory confirmed the circulation of the RC – virus.

Experts of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in the region continue to monitor the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections among the regional population and take active measures to increase public awareness on the prevention of respiratory infections.
