Volodymyr Chubirko: “Uzhgorod City Council has turned into a joint-stock company”

"I did not organize it. I’m not interested in that" – the Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko commented to the "Tisa-1" TV channel on accusations of the former Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Shchadey of his involvement in personnel changes in the City Council.

"I think everyone understands that the chairman of the regional council has no power to do that, I cannot influence any local council" – the chairman of the regional council said.

Also Chubriko said that he was one of those people who in February lobbied for the appointment of Shchadey to the position of the Acting Mayor. "We brought people to support him. But the expectations about Shchadey were not met. The city still works in the coordinate system of Pogorelov-Ratushniak, and they keep distributing land. Schadey had to stop this shameful practice. But he became a part of this system" – Volodymyr Chubirko believes.

With regard to further developments in the city council – the Chairman of the Regional Council believes that the best option will be its full reboot. "If it is not possible to "break" the situation in the City Council – it should be dissolved. Uzhgorod City Council has turned into a joint stock company. Today the community is not satisfied with its work. Patriots in the City Council should resign," – Chubirko concluded.
