Transcarpathia asks the "Ukrainian Railways" to consider the prospects of Borzhava narrow gauge railroad

The narrow gauge railroad, the train on which runs in Vynogradiv and Irshava districts, is important for countrymen - the regional authorities of Transcarpathia argue.

Therefore, they ask the "Ukrainian Railways" to consider the prospects of and find opportunities to restore the functioning of the NGR - together with the regional authorities, Transcarpathian experts.

Currently, daily runs on the Borzhava narrow-gauge railroad have been discontinued, and it is inconvenient for residents who have been using the services of the train for years.

Transcarpathian RSA makes an appropriate appeal to the "Ukrainian Railways".

"Borzhava narrow-gauge railroad is a railway which, although belonging to the so-called "small" type, has a great historical and social function. For one hundred years, it has been a part of life of Transcarpathians, and it would be a shame to lose it. To stop the train is the easiest step, it will be much more difficult to restart it." - they say.

Now, the Regional Council is studying the opportunities to restore the Borzhava narrow-gauge railroad through grant programs. By the way, this railway has some tourist prospects as an object of material culture of the region. And discontinuation of train runs not only causes problems for people in Transcarpathian heartland, but may also lead to the destruction of the railroad, making it impossible to restore it.
