The EIB has given Ukraine 150 million for the gas pipeline "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod"

The European Investment Bank has granted Ukraine 150 million euros loan to modernize the gas pipeline "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod".

The corresponding agreement was signed by the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and the EIB President Werner Hoyer on Monday, the "Ukrainski Novyny" informed.

"Today we signed an agreement on partial reconstruction of the pipeline "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod", - Yatsenyuk said.

He noted that the EIB loan amount is 150 million euros.

According to Yatsenyuk, the modernization of the pipeline "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod" will reduce the cost of gas transportation through it by 20%.

He added that the Cabinet intended to sign an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to allocate 200 million euros for the reconstruction of the gas pipeline "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod".

The EIB President Hoyer said that this agreement was very important for the energy security of the region.
