Slovakia is ready to increase gas supplies to Ukraine
The operator of gas transmission system in Slovakia - the Eustream company - in the near future could increase the reverse gas supplies to Ukraine above 11.5 billion tons per year, which is planned to be delivered starting from January 1, 2015.
This was announced on Tuesday to the "RIA Novosti" by an official representative of the company Wagram Chuhuryan.
"There are technical capabilities to further increase gas supplies to Ukraine in reverse mode through the territory of Slovakia" - Chuhuryan said.
According to him, it all depends on the Ukrainian party, who now is working on further improvement the sytem of gas transportation through its territory.
"Once the Eustream receives confirmation from the Ukrainian party of its readiness to increased supplies, it will announce the launch of the Open Season procedure, during which the companies, that submitted application for additional pumping of gas to Ukraine, will be registered," - Chuhuryan said.
The whole process, he said, takes a few weeks. The representative of the Eustream refused to say exactly how much the volume of gas supplies to Ukraine can be increased.
