Reverse gas supply from Europe is restrained by insufficient transit capabilities

The operator of Slovakian GTS Eustream, following the Open Season procedure, during which the company was accepting applications for use of additional capabilities of the "Vojany-Uzhgorod" pipeline, notes strong demand for the supply of "blue fuel" to Ukraine, which is limited by technical capabilities of the existing pipeline.

As noted by the Slovak company, the interest of suppliers is significantly higher than the proposed capacity, the UNIAN reported.

The proposed additional capacity of the pipeline Slovakia-Ukraine in amount of 4.5 million cubic meters of gas per day were reserved by companies until the end of 2019.

Currently, according to Eustream, the capacity of the pipeline "Vojany-Uzhgorod" amounts to 11.5 billion cubic meters per year, or 31.5 million cubic meters per day.

"The capacity has been increased on account of technological measures on the Ukrainian side," - the Slovak operator stated.

As reported, on November 18, the daily supply of natural gas from Slovakia to Ukraine reached another record high of 31.2 million cubic meters.
