Today, in Uzhgorod, in the sports complex "Yunist", there will the opening ceremony of the competition among athletes with disabilities on the occasion of the World Day of Disabled Persons. A total of 300 participants take part in the competition. The opening ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Popovich and the Deputy Governor Mykhailo Rivis.
22 years ago, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared December 3 the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Although it is not a holiday, but hardly anyone will deny that it still makes us think about how to make the lives of people with disabilities in Ukraine at least a little easier.
Students of the regional sports school for disabled "Invasport" took part in the regional competition. This year, students of the school, at the finals of the competition "Believe in yourself", ranked first by the number of "gold" medals – 41. The first deputy chairman of the regional council congratulated them at the opening of the event. Addressing the participants, Mykhailo Popovich wished everyone good health, prosperity, harmony, realization of plans, and most importantly – confidence in achieving their goals. He stressed that the problem of social protection are the focus of regional and local councils.
The participants of the competition received financial incentives from the management of the region.
