Minor resident of Mukachevo, who killed a 22-year-old young man, will be imprisoned for 7 years
Recently, they completed the proceedings in the preliminary investigation on charges against a 14-year-old resident of Mukachevo of a crime under Part 2 of Art.121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - grievous bodily harm that caused the victim's death.
It was established that this summer, the 9th grader, in revenge for insult, struck a knife into the back of a 22-year old men who died in hospital from his injuries.
In accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the liability for the said offense begins at 14 years old, therefore the minor could not avoid criminal liability for his actions.
As the juvenile prosecutor of Mukachevo Prosecutor's Office Alla Fedorova informed, "According to a forensic expert, the minor, at the time of the crime, was fully aware of the significance of his actions and could control them, and therefore there were no grounds for dismissal of the criminal charges."
The prosecutor presented in court unequivocal evidence of the Mukachevo resident's guilt of committing the crime. However, given all the circumstances of the case and the age of the boy, the prosecutor asked the court for the minimum punishment provided by the relevant article, namely - 7 years in prison.
Mukachevo city and district court fully upheld the prosecutor and by its sentence found the juvenile guilty of the crime and sentenced him to 7 years in prison.
