Transcarpathians are invited to join the annual initiative “Earth Hour”

On Saturday, March 29 at 20:30, people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour, the Earth Hour, to show the need for joint action to combat climate change.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the RSA calls to join the campaign "Earth Hour" and hopes that it will attract the attention of every citizen to the ecological situation in our country.

This measure, in addition to the symbolic light off for 60 minutes, puts emphasis on the need for daily activities of every citizen, company and government on energy efficiency, conservation of the environment, prudent use of resources to tackle climate change and achieve harmony with nature.

The Earth Hour was initiated in Sydney (Australia) in 2007, and one year later, this event became a global environmental initiative, joined by over 100 million people in 35 countries, and in 2009, Ukraine along with 126 other countries, also joined the worldwide campaign "Earth Hour"! The Earth Hour 2013 became an unprecedented success – the campaign was supported by 152 countries, 7,000 cities, including 40 in Ukraine.

This is an opportunity to give people a voice in deciding the future of the planet, and also to combine our efforts for sustainable development and conservation of nature around us for the sake of our children and grandchildren!
