The young men, who stole a box for donations from the church in Uzhgorod, have been convicted

The court decided on verdicts against four young men, who had stolen a donation box from the church in Uzhgorod: two were sentenced to five and four years imprisonment, others were sentenced to two years probation

As reported earlier, on September 21, four young men, acting in collusion, stole a box for donations to the poor and sick from the Holy Cross Greek Catholic Cathedral in Uzhgorod. The box contained over one thousand hryvnias. The thieves were arrested in hot pursuit, and the criminal proceedings against them were opened under Part 2, 3 of Art.185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - namely theft committed by previous concert by a group persons combined with breaking and entering.

Recently, there was a meeting of the Uzhgorod city and district court, where the prosecution of Uzhgorod proved the guilt of the young men. In particular, the theft was planned by the oldest one in the group - a 23-year-old A., who also incited two juveniles to commit this crime.

During the trial, four defendants - a 23-year-old A., an 18-year-old H., and minors - 17-year-old P. and 16-year-old L. - fully admitted their guilt and repented of their deed, which was softening circumstances of their punishment.

Thus, Uzhgorod city and district court found 23-year-old A. guilty of criminal offenses under Part 2, Part 3 of Art.185 - theft, coupled with breaking and entering committed by previous concert. In addition, the defendant will be punished for the involvement of minors in criminal activity (Part 1 of Art.304 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). While sentencing the defendant, the court took into account part of the unserved sentence under previous conviction. In this regard, he was sentenced to imprisonment for five years. Another adult - 18-year-old H. - was sentenced to four years in prison for committing the theft and due to unserved sentence under previous conviction. Two juveniles - 17-year-old P. and 16-year-old L. - were sentenced to two years probation, provided that during that period they do not commit crimes again.
