Social networks connect illegal immigrants and Google maps shows them the way to a better life
As previously reported, on the night of March 16, border guards of the Chop detachment, a few kilometers from Uzhgorod, detained the largest group of illegal immigrants in the past few years in the number of 33 persons.
In the morning of the same March 16, guards of the westernmost borders detained two more groups of illegal immigrants. First, border guards from Velyky Berezny stopped two unknown men near the border with Slovakia and asked them to show IDs. The men reported that they did not have any documents. Regarding the purpose of their stay in the border area, they said they wanted to get to Slovakia, and then to Western Europe. The detainee said that they came from Nigeria and Guinea.
Later, the offenders told the border guards that they had met in one of the social networks, and agreed to go to the EU together. After meeting at the agreed place in one of the western regional centers, they planned their route through the Carpathians using Google maps and headed off to the border.
Two men from Georgia, who were detained by border guards of the department "Chop" a few hundred meters to the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, also planned their route to the EU using Google maps. Regarding their citizenship and the purpose of the trip, the offenders reported that they did not have any IDs and that they were going to Austria.
All offenders were delivered to border guard units. Currently, they are being identified, administrative, procedural and verifying activities are being carried out.
