The robber from Volovets district, who had committed the attack on a non-stop grocery store on Borodin street in the regional center, was arrested by Uzhgorod officers of the Criminal Investigation in Mukachevo.

Yesterday, at 06.30, the owner of the local grocery store reported to Uzhgorod city police that an unknown man had walked into the shop and threatening a 33-year-old clerk with an object similar to a hunting rifle, seized from the cash register the money in the amount of about 3500 - 4000 UAH.

 Officers of the Criminal Investigation and the investigative team of the city police arrived at the scene. It turned out that the incident had occurred two hours ago, but the clerk did not tell anyone about it, and decided to wait for the morning when the owner of the shop comes.

Because of her senseless act, two hours of the precious time to solve the crime and apprehend the criminal in hot pursuit were lost. 

 During the search operations, the police found out that the criminal offense had been committed by a 26-year-old resident of Volovets district. The man had previously been prosecuted for property crimes and fraud.

The robber was detained this morning in the city of Mukachevo. During the arrest, the offender was resisting the police. Now, the detainee is explaining that he committed the crime using a toy machine-gun, which he had bought the day before in a toy store in Uzhgorod. Currently, this incident has been registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations, and the criminal proceedings on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery) have been opened. The attacker faces the punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with confiscation of property.
