Berezny is unblocked. Chop will not be blocked
The car traffic at the crossing point Maly Berezny-Uhlya has been resumed. In the morning, residents of Berezny on cars with foreign license plates blocked the border, since last night border guards stopped to let them cross the border, citing new instructions from Kyiv.
After long discussions at the crossing point, the head of the post Ivan Szabados prepared a letter to the management of Chop customs office requesting to appeal to Kyiv to revoke the order on the new rules for transit crossing.
According to the new document, people were not allowed to double-cross the border within the same checkpoint. And, for example, if one would leave to Slovakia via Maly Berezny, they had to come back via Uzhgorod.
Also Szabados said that by the order of the Acting Head of Chop customs, Transcarpathian cars would be allowed to cross the border at the checkpoints as usually. Therefore, motorists refused from plans to block the customs point in Chop on the border with Hungary.
According to activists, the border crossing point there operates normally. At the same time they stress, that if any problems for people appear, or if there are any abuses of power by customs officials, motorists will block the border immediately and indefinitely. And they warned Chop customs about that.
