3697 people in Transcarpathia suffer from ARVI and influenza
As the head of the epidemic monitoring and sanitary protection department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in Transcarpathian region Victoria Dordyay informed, during the 12th calendar week of 2014, 3697 people turned to health care institutions of the region about ARVI and influenza. Among the diseased, 2558 (69.2%) were children under 17 years. 6.6% of the total of cases (244), including 182 (74.6%) children, were hospitalized.
The incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections among the population of the region is 29.4 per 10 thousand people, which is 34.5% below the epidemic threshold. The highest rates of influenza and ARVI are recorded in Uzhgorod (55.9 per 10 thousand population), the lowest ones - in Tyachiv district (5.6 per 10 thousand population).
According to virological studies, during the current week, viruses of A influenza (16.7%), parainfluenza (50.0%), adenoviruses (8.3%) and RS viruses (25.0%) were circulating in the region.
Specialists of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in the region continue to monitor the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections among the population of the region - the press-service of the Health Care Administration of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region reported.
