Running for Life completed the latest stage
The record for Transcarpathia 200 kilometers race of Dmytro Dzhmil, which he made for a girl Maria Malesh from Irshava district, who suffers from cerebral palsy, finished today at 14.00, the publication 7 dniv informed.
The Transcarpathian started this charity event at night on the 23rd and finished today - on the 24th of May. On his way from Lviv region to Transcarpathia he overcame six passes, mountainous terrain and elevation change. A further obstacle was the heat during the day and low night temperatures. Under these conditions, the athletes ran 200 km, setting the regional record.
He was accompanied by a cyclist Ferenc Hutlebet. During more than 30 hours on the road, guys slept only 40 minutes, Ferenc said. And Dmytro got sunburnt on the first day of run, so the organizers had to urgently look for creams to relieve sunburn.
The race for two hundred kilometers was arranged for a 14-year-old girl Maria Melesh with cerebral palsy. She has undergone three surgeries, and is now going to Kyiv to have the fourth one. But the family has no money for rehabilitation. The co-organizer of the campaign Tetyana Ihnatyo said that "... during the first campaign we managed to raise about 3,000 UAH, that is some part of the money needed to treat the girl. And just a week before the start of the second phase of the campaign, in turned out that Marichka needs another, the fourth surgery. Therefore, we hope to raise some of the money for the current operation and also for the urgent rehabilitation in early June."
The organizers also intend to continue raising money for the rehabilitation of the girl. And they ask anyone who cares to contribute.
