The third best public museum in Ukraine is in Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)
The only in Transcarpathia Museum of Railways History has been operating in the village of Kolochava since 2009.
The exhibition of rarities "Kolochava narrow gauge" includes a locomotive and a train of ten cars. Each car reflects the process of transportation in different periods of history. Here, there are three Czech passenger cars, a Soviet boxcar, a Hungarian car to carry cattle and a barrel of water, and of course, cars for transporting wood.
Each museum car features unique exhibits that tell the history of narrow gauges in Transcarpathia, work and life of railwaymen and their passengers. The main pride of the Museum is a unique operating steam engine - a powerful and environmentally friendly transport. Made in Germany in 1951, the locomotive worked until 1973, and then was stored at the locomotive depot in the village of Khmelnik in Beregovo district, and only a miracle saved him from being scrapped.
In the Nationwide public museum competition held in December 2009, the Kolochava Museum ranked third in the nomination "The best exposition design".
