The price of vodka in Ukraine will rise by 32.6%
The Cabinet of Ministers decided to increase the minimum retail price for 0.5 liter bottles of vodka by 32.6% and implement such increase in two stages: in the coming days - by 15.9%, from August 1 - by 14.3%.
"We would like to inform that at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, they approved the draft Resolution to increase the minimum prices for alcohol. The document sets the MRP for vodka at 34.9 hryvnia for 0.5 liters, and a further increase of the MRP to 39.9 hryvnia for 0.5 liters, starting from August 1," - the statement says.
The resolution comes into force on the date of signature.
According to "Ukrvodka", the government also raised the minimum retail prices for other alcoholic beverages.
In particular, the retail prices for wine in glass containers (volume 0.7 l) or other containers (1 l) is increased by 11% - to 20 UAH, for wine in glass containers (0,75 l), as well as some wine ( 0,7 l) - by 26.9% to 33 UAH.
The association "Ukrvodka" notes the active cooperation of the government and spirits producers in the fight against the illegal market.
At the same time, the association noted that the industry is not ready in the current reality to another increase of excise duties starting from July 1.
Manufacturers believe: to avoid the collapse of the market and to increase revenues to the state budget need, the entry into force of the new excise rates should be posponed from July to January 1, 2015.
