The Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod urged children not to drink alcohol

During this week, in all Uzhgorod schools, volunteers will be telling the children about the harmful effects of alcohol and the effects of alcohol addiction. The campaign takes place as part of the project "Healthy lifestyle without alcohol", co-initiated by Uzhgorod City Council and the NGO "Good family."

"Before the summer break we decided to conduct a little briefing for students and tell them about the negative effects of alcohol on the body - Marianna Isayska, the head of the NGO "Good family" said. - Our goal is to warn children, since to avoid addiction, one must be informed about the consequences. For the most part, teens believe that alcohol, cigarettes or drugs are cool. So we tell children that they should know the truth, and make a mature, conscious, responsible choice."

The acting mayor Victor Shchadey also met with students and immediately said that he does not drink alcoholic beverages and is very negative about alcohol. "It is unlikely that alcohol will make your life more interesting - the acting mayor addressed to children. - You can have active and interesting rest, move forward, make a career, be successful - all without alcohol. Alcohol addicts do not become like that suddenly. They used to be your peers, go to school, play football, have dreams and goals. They became drunkards gradually. No one has ever been made happy and healthy by alcohol."

To make meetings with students more effective, Victor Shchadey asked parents to watch if their children drink alcohol. "In the future we plan to eliminate the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors, - the acting mayor said. - Raids will be carried out regularly to permanently discontinue this practice when teens can easily buy alcohol in any "ABC"
