Our Heroes: fifty Chop border guards returned home from the East (PHOTO)
As you know, border guards of the western region did not stay aside of tension on the Ukrainian-Russian border and went to help their colleagues. In particular, more than 50 soldiers of the Chop border guard detachment were performing their constitutional duty on the border with Russia.
Back in early March, after appropriate preparation for the march, a mechanized group of fifty soldiers and 11 vehicles from Chop border guard detachment left to the Dog Training Centre (the town of Velyki Mosty, Lviv region) for coordination of activities and participation in training. And in a week, a combined unit of "green caps" from the western border in amount of more than 300 people went to the east, to Kharkiv region.
During three months, Chop soldiers were guarding the border in Kharkiv and Luhansk regions, and during the past few weeks as part of border units of the Luhansk detachment, they were fighting off attacks of armed militants. Recently, they were replaced with another group that continued performing tasks on the border with Russia. It consists of more than 60 soldiers of the Chop detachment.
On June 16, relatives, friends, colleagues, community of Chop and activists with pride and boundless joy welcomed our comrades who were among the first to go to defend the eastern borders of our country, have not betrayed the oath to Ukrainian nation and returned home alive.
"I think that when subordinates welcome their commander on his return from the ATO area like that, it means something. It's more important that any order or extraordinary title" - the photographer Serhiy Hudak wrote.
