Mukachevo prosecutors filed an appeal regarding the suspect in the brutal killing

Mukachevo City Court, contrary to the arguments of the prosecutor, imposed on the suspect in a brutal murder a pre-trial restraint in the form of house arrest without electronic monitoring equipment – the Prosecutor’s Office filed an appeal

The prosecutors of Mukachevo district appealed to the Court of Appeal of Transcarpathian region, disagreeing with the decision of Mukachevo district court, pursuant to which the pre-trial restraint was imposed on a resident of the village of Klenovets suspected in a brutal murder of a 60-year-old fellow villager in the form of house arrest for 60 days without electronic monitoring equipment.

Mukachevo district prosecutor Oleg Opishnyak, noted that: "During the trial, the court failed to take into account reasonable arguments of the prosecution, such as: the circumstances and the gravity of the crime, the suspect’s attempt to leave the scene immediately after the commission of the act, absence of permanent source of income, absence of any medical conditions that would not allow to keep him in custody, etc."

Therefore, the Prosecutor’s Office considers the siad court ruling unlawful and unreasonable, and in the morning the day after its passage, filed an appeal against the investigating judge ruling, in which they demand to impose on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention.

"Moreover, – Oleg Opishnyak said – the District Prosecutor’s Office has taken additional measures to ensure the suspect could not escape responsibility for his actions, and gave the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine orders to ensure that the suspect would not cross the border."
