Hungary is one of the most active supporters of European integration aspirations of Ukraine. The importance of Ukraine in the Hungarian foreign policy is supported by the fact that the Kyiv mission is one of the largest foreign missions of Hungary, which makes it possible to actively participate in all areas of bilateral relations. These relations are observed most actively at the regional level, the development of cross-border cooperation of Transcarpathian region and border areas of Hungary. Their dynamic progress is evidenced by visits of high representatives of Hungary to Transcarpathia.
On June 26th, our region was visited by the Ambassador of Hungary in Ukraine Mihaly Bayer. At the regional council, the senior diplomat met with the Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloha. It was also attended by the administrator of the executive office of the regional council, Mykhailo Popovich in the Ukrainian party, and by the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bacskai and the Consul General of Hungary in Beregovo Istvan Toth in the Hungarian party.
It should be noted that over the 4 years, that Mihaly Bayer has been working as the head of the Hungarian Embassy in Ukraine, municipalities of Transcarpathia have found new partners in our neighboring Hungary, established close cooperation with them on the development of border infrastructure, social sphere, tourism, strengthening of national and cultural ties, increased contacts between official delegations and individuals. A very important in economic and social terms agreement between the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary on cooperation in the social sector in the framework of the Eastern Partnership was signed and implemented.
Therefore, the parties noted with satisfaction that this cooperation is bringing good and beneficial results for both parties, that we are united not only by practical measures, but also by friendship and mutual understanding between people.
According to the ambassador, Hungary is committed to the success of reforms in Ukraine. Both in terms of domestic political and economic stability, as well as with respect to the adoption of European standards and realization of human and minority rights. It stands for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, supports it on its way to join the European Union.
For his part, the Chairman of the Regional Council Ivan Baloha thanked the Ambassador of Hungary Mihaly Bayer for the financial assistance provided by Hungary to Transcarpathia in the implementation of social cross-border programs. He expressed confidence that the cooperation between territorial communities of Transcarpathia and Hungary would continue to develop rapidly, bringing new good fruits for Ukrainian and Hungarian peoples.
