Lunchenko: We managed to collect 1,066,000 UAH and 181 bulletproff vests to help the Transcarpathian Territorial Defence Battalion

This was announced by the head of the region on Thursday, June 26, during the session of the Regional Council:

- Six months ago, many people were struggling for changes in the country, but nobody knew the price of these changes - at the cost of human lives.
Our state, our citizens have chosen the direction of changes, and we will go this way.

Regarding the Transcarpathian territorial defense battalion, we have many problems: living conditions, equipment. We appealed to volunteers, sponsors, patrons, to provide the personnel with everything necessary. Many people responded. We also appealed to the heads of district state administration asking to support the army. As of today, we have collected 1,066,000 UAH and 181 bulletproof vests. We will establish a commission for the distribution of funds, procurement of equipment, maybe part of the funds will be allocated for immediate steps to improve the living conditions of the battalion.

At present, there is no order to send soldiers from the battalion to the east. Starting next week, the personnel of the Territorial Defence Battalion will be engaged to protect strategic facilities of the region.

Previously, together with the military commissioner Ivan Vasyltsyun, we appealed to then Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, the Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and the Acting Minister of Defence of Ukraine with a request to postpone call up from Transcarpathian region. As a result, 2200 guys, who were supposed to go to the east in May, were not sent there.
