Chop border guards summarized the activities for the first half of the year

The developments in the area of the ​Chop border guard detachment, in the first half of 2014, were 
mainly determined by flow of illegal migrants. The main countries of origin were Afghanistan, Syria 
and Georgia. 

Overall, during the first half of this year, the border guard units of the Chop detachment 
apprehended 115 illegal immigrants. Independently and in collaboration with other law enforcement 
agencies, in 183 cases they prevented illegal cross-border transportation of goods, including 
cigarettes worth over 5.5 million UAH. During border control at checkpoints, they found 5 units of 
arms and 47 units of ammunition, about 500 grams of drugs. During the passport control, inspectors 
found out two forged, 3 other people’s and 67 invalid passports. About 287 people were not allowed 
to cross the border, in 168 cases violation of the rules of foreigners’ stay in Ukraine were found. 
Administrative charges were brought against 381 persons, on whom fines amounting to 600,000 UAH 
were imposed. 

In addition, the officers of the Chop detachment performed and currently continue to perform the 
task of strengthening the protection of the eastern borders of Ukraine.
