A textbook on the history of Ukraine, written by a Transcarpathian, has been published

In Uzhgorod Press Club, there was the presentation of the first textbook on the history of Ukraine written by a Transcarpathian scholar. Serhiy Fedaka, the author of the textbook, professor and Halyna Kuriy (Malyk), the director of the Transcarpathian branch of the publishing house "Znannya" told more about the event and the textbook.

According to Serhiy Fedaka, the release of such textbook is an extraordinary event. "Previously, historians have been co-authors, but a single author of a textbook - it's the first time in 60 years - Serhiy Fedaka says - Halyna Malyk was the godmother of the book. She appealed to me asking to write it. The work was somewhat delayed, by the end of 2013 it was submitted to Kyiv to receive the stamp. After tumultuous events, one of the first decisions of the new management of the Ministry was to release the textbook. The 800-page edition was published in small circulation in May."

According to the professor, textbooks on the history of Ukraine are nothing new nowadays, there are about 100 of them.  But this edition is a specialized textbook for students who study history more in-depth. The book is based on S.Fedaka's lectures, as he says, "from mammoths to 1648."

By the way, there was some scandals associated with the textbook. "When reviewers began reading it, they found Russophobic motives in the textbook even in that ancient period. They accused us that relations between Ukraine and Russia were poorly covered", - Halyna Kuriy said.  At that time, the Ministry of Education was headed by odious D.Tabachnyk.

Halyna Kuriy also told about the new project of the "Znannya" publishing house: publications of world classics in two languages - Ukrainian and original. In particular, they released books for those who loves to read and studies English. The Ukrainian edition of the same work follows the English version "page in page". Further they are going to publish books in Spanish, Slovak, German and many other languages.
