Transcarpathians were convicted for illegal dealings with drugs and firearms

The sentence of the Mukachevo district court in Transcarpathian region against three members of a criminal gang, who have organized illegal drug and firearms trafficking, has entered into force.

During the pre-trial investigation, the investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region found out and proved that three Mukachevo district residents aged 40 to 45 years, for a long time had been selling dangerous drugs – cannabis, marijuana, cannabis resin, opium, as well as firearms.

In December 2011, near one of the hotel complexes in Mukachevo, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the offenders "red-handed" when they were trying to sell 125 grams of marijuana and a gun without permits. The criminals planned to receive 5000 dollars for this illegal deal.

During a search in the apartment of one of the detainees, the police officers found and seized two guns and ammunition to them.

The court found two local residents guilty of having committed the crimes under Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) and Part 2 of Art.307 (illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs ) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced them to 2 years and 1 month’s imprisonment. The third member of the criminal group was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) and Part 2 of Art. 309 (illegal manufacture, production, purchase, storage, transportation or transfer of drugs) of the Criminal Code Ukraine and sentenced to 4 years imprisonment with a probation period of two years.
