“Carpathian Euroregion” supports the Ukrainian people

Over its more than 20 years of existence, the "Carpathian Euroregion" has played and continues to play an important role of organizer and coordinator of inter-regional and cross-border cooperation.  It is through the institutions of the "Carpathian Euroregion" that our region has established partnerships not only with the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region, but also with Hevesh and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén regions in Hungary, with Kosice and Presov self-governing lands in Slovakia, Maramures and Satu Mare counties in Romania, Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland.

Moreover, through these regions we have found other interested partners, established relationships between local communities of more than one hundred towns and villages, between research and educational institutions, cultural centers, NGOs. This collaboration gives real results in economic, social and humanitarian areas of our region.

However, the analysis of the "Carpathian Euroregion" activity evidences the need for its renewal. This is what was discussed and at the 40th meeting of the Board of this inter-regional association, which took place on February 14 in the Hungarian city of Nyíregyháza and which was attended by Ukrainian delegation, composed of the Transcarpathian Regional Council chairman Ivan Baloha, the manager of the executive office of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Mykhailo Popovich, the chairman of the Budget Committee of the Regional Council Vasyl Brenzovych, the press service of the Regional Council informed.

Polish, Romanian, Slovak and Hungarian parties of the "Carpathian Euroregion", in particular, expressed to members of the Ukrainian delegation their support of the Ukrainian people in their quest to live in a free, democratic country. Also foreign partners continue to closely monitor developments in Ukraine and to support desire of the Ukrainian people for European integration.
