The Secretary of State for Economic Diplomacy of Hungary Levente Modyor is visiting Transcarpathia
On December 5th, the Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko, the head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal, the deputy of Ukraine Vasyl Brenzovych and Mukachevo Mayor Zoltan Lengyel met with the Secretary of State for Economic Diplomacy of Hungary Levente Modyor. The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Popovich, the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bochkayi and in Beregovo Endre Salipski.
Firstly, the Secretary of State said that Hungary has been for years supporting Ukraine in its intentions to integrate into the European Union. And it will continue to do so - Levente Modyor says. "Strong and unified Ukraine is in our interest. We strengthen contacts with neighboring regions, and Transcarpathia remains the priority. We prove our commitment to mutual relations practically. The cooperation with Transcarpathia will become even more dynamic. We propose to build three new crossing points on the border, in particular. Thus, we want to bring your country closer to Europe" - the Hungarian official shared their plans.
He also said that on January, attaches for economic issues would start working at consulates in Beregovo and Uzhgorod that will help to establish contacts between businesses of the countries. Another project that is being developed is the launch of railway route between Budapest and Mukachevo.
Volodymyr Chubirko noted that Transcarpathia is a participant of all EU Neighbourhood programs on its eastern border. Currently, more than 30 investment projects at the expense of the European Union are being implemented in the region. The agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and the Transcarpathian Regional Council is very important for our region.
During the last two years, under this program, through co-financing by the Hungarian party, more than 90 projects in energy efficiency, maintenance and repair of social institutions, including schools, pre-schools, health and culture institutions, have been implemented in Transcarpathia.
The parties discussed the possibility of implementing new projects within the Eastern Partnership. They also talked about the possibility of involving Transcarpathia in another major European project worth $ 300 million - the Danube Strategy. This is a project that will allow to solve environmental problems of the Tisa River Basin.
