They are very young, yet already grown-ups. Modern Ukrainian children, because of the tragic events in Ukraine, at very young age had to know what war is. In this special period - the period of New Year and Christmas holidays - children are used to believe: our wishes come true! And this year, they have special wishes - that soldiers return home alive.
To help them, Transcarpathian students have made thousands of amulets. Most of them contain requests: "Please come back alive!". It is done within the project "Support a Hero - give him a charm." It was initiated by children themselves - namely, representatives of student self-government of the region. Teachers and club members of the Transcarpathian Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity "PADIYUN" supported the project and helped to implement it. Thousands of young Transcarpathians and their teachers joined the campaign, amulets were made in all parts of the region.
Amulets are symbolic - mostly angels and hearts, and also letters and drawings. They are supposed to give the men warmth and faith in a better future, because children put in these drawings all of their skills, all the warmth of their hands and hearts. Children truly believe that "guardian angels" will save many lives.
Soldiers themselves often say that charms bring luck.
As a result, Transcarpathian children have made several thousand charms, all of them were consecrated and handed to volunteers of the Movement to support Transcarpathian soldiers who promised to deliver charms to the East by St. Nicholas's Day.
