General Staff: Mobilization will take place all over Ukraine
Mobilization in Ukraine should take place no later than at the end of January, specific terms will be determined by the Parliament, the Armed Forces General Staff reported.
This was announced at a press briefing on Friday by the First Deputy Chief of Defence and Mobilization Planning Department of the Armed Forces General Staff Volodymyr Talalay, the "Interfax-Ukraine" informed.
"The terms of mobilization shall be determined by the President and approved by the Parliament. Therefore, specific terms will be determined only when the Parliament votes for the relevant law," - he said.
When asked about whether the mobilization would begin approximately at the beginning of January, the First Deputy Chief of the department said
"Given the duration of the mobilization in this year, to ensure consistent replacement of soldiers in military units... we need to conduct mobilization approximately no later than at the end of January."
Regarding the number of Ukrainians, that will be called up for another mobilization, according to Talalay, this figure should match the number that will ensure combat readiness of military units.
He added that this information could not be disclosed.
Also, the First Deputy Chief of the department stressed that mobilization would take place all over Ukraine, except the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are under the control of militants.
