Who may pay less for housing
Families who are unable to pay the full cost of housing and utilities, may enjoy both housing subsidies and compensation from the state for payment for utilites. This is a new type of state aid that the government specifically introduced after the revision of tariffs.
According to preliminary calculations, after the increase of tariffs, on average in Ukraine, the payment for the maintenance of a 1 bedroom apartment, where one person lives, will be 405 UAH, 2 bedroom apartment, where three persons live - 817 UAH, 3 bedroom apartment, where four inhabitants are registered - 1073 UAH.
In each case, the calculation of tariffs for maintenance of the appartment largely depends on the area of the apartment and the number of persons registered in it.
Compensation for people, who objectively are unable to pay for housing and utilities in full, are calculated as the difference between the amount of payment for utilities within the consumption rates after the increase in prices and tariffs for utilities and the amount of the payment that the family was paying before the increase in prices and tariffs.
Families, whose total average monthly income does not exceed the minimum subsistence level for a family, shall be eligible to compensation. The subsistence level is: for able-bodied persons - 1218 UAH, for incapacitated persons (retired or disabled) - 949 UAH, for children under 6 years - 1032 UAH, from 6 to 18 years - 1286 UAH - specialists of the Social Welfare Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration informed.
Subsidies may be granted to families, where the amount of payment for utility services exceeds the amount of mandatory payment percentage set by the Cabinet of Ministers: 15% or 10% (for incapacitated people) of the family's total average monthly income.
