Transcarpathians owe 61.5 million hryvnias for natural gas
Since the beginning of the year, the "Zakarpatgaz" PJSC has disconnected from gas network about 1,200 debtors in order to prevent further growth of indebtedness by consumers, which can lead to disruption of the heating season.
Thanks to individual work with debtors, the "Zakarpatgaz" PJSC has managed in three months to reduce the debt by 10.1 million hryvnias. Thus, while as of May 1, 2014, the debt of consumers was about 71.6 million hryvnias, as of August 1, 2014, it was 61.5 million hryvnias.
The enterprise had to resort to such extreme measures as disconnection of gas consumers from gas network, because debts for gas are not repaid, and debtors refuse to have constructive dialogue and contact the "Zakarpatgaz" PJSC only after being disconnected from gas supply. Consumers, who do not pay gas bills on time, have to realize that they compromise gas supply in the region during the heating season, because the company delivers state gas to consumers.
"In conditions of the energy crisis in Ukraine because of suspension of gas supplies from Russia, it is probable that the heating season in 2014-15 will be quite difficult for us. Now, we are making every effort to meet the needs of the population, but insufficient level of payments by consumers does not allow the company to timely pay to natural gas suppliers and purchase the necessary volume for uninterrupted gas supply" - the Deputy Chairman of the "Zakarpatgaz" PJSC on gas supply and accounting Victoria Tomynets said.
The "Zakarpatgaz" PJSC advises families, who are unable to pay for the use of natural gas in full, to apply to the social welfare agencies for subsidies. In addition, on July 1, 2014, citizens with low incomes additionally have the right to compensation for additional spendings for utilities, including those for gas supply, due to increased tariffs.
The "Zakarpatgaz" PJSC recommends consumers not to wait upon receiving notification about debts and contact the gas supply facility immediately for a constructive resolution of the debt repayment issue. Since the restoration of gas supply, after it has been stopped, is possible only upon the full repayment od debt and reimbursement of the cost of restoration.
