The control of fire safety in Transcarpathian forests will be increased

The management of the region instructed to strengthen the control of fire safety in Transcarpathian forests

Rising temperatures of recent days gave a start to mass exodus of people to nature. As a result, forest fires occur, mostly caused by careless handling of fire while vacationing in the forests of the region.

According to the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, this year, 6 wildfires have occurred in the region and have been successfully contained. In particular, two – in Velyky Berezny district, one – in Rakhiv district, one – in Irshava district, one – in Vynogradiv district, and one – in Svalyava district.

For local authorities, it is a clear signal to action, the deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration – the head of the Regional commission for technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies Mykhailo Rivis said.

According to the official, it is necessary to introduce a number of preventive precautionary measures. In particular, to restrict unauthorized public access to forests and to ensure timely detection and extinguishing of forest fires. If necessary, to organize patrols in the forests with raid teams.

Also, it is necessary to have a reserve of fuel and lubricants for extingushing and elimination of fires in the Carpathian forests, on fields with dry grass and landfills.

Thus, the head of the Regional commission for technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies Mykhailo Rivis instructed local executive authorities to control places of public recreation and ensure safety of people.
