Petro Szarvas was appointed the chief architect of Uzhgorod
The Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod appointed renowned Transcarpathian architect Petro Szarvas as the Head of the Architecture and Urban Planning Department. The appointment was announced a month ago, but architect could not become the civil servant until now because he was an entrepreneur and had to go through the procedure for elimination of entrepreneurship.
Petro Szarvas is a known architect in the region, active champion for the preservation of historic character of the city. He is a member of the organization "PRO URBE" (For the City), has a high reputation.
Recall Uzhgorod has not had the chief architect since October last year. Then, in one of the city's cafes, the head of the Architecture Department Leonid Samsonov was detained for a $ 600 bribe. In June this year, Mr. Samsonov was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment with probation period of 2 years.
