National Bank may lift restrictions on withdrawals from deposits
The National Bank is considering lifting restrictions on the deposit market which are applied until September 1.
According to the press service of the regulator, citing the statement of the chairman of the NBU Valeria Gontareva made at the meeting with the heads of 40 largest banks in Ukraine to resolve the situation on the currency market.
Recall, the NBU set a maximum amount of withdrawal from the deposit and current accounts, except cash advance in the form of wages, pensions, stipends and other social benefits, at 150,000 UAH from June 1 to September 1.
By the same decision, the regulator extended until September the ban on the sale of cash for individuals over 15,000 UAH, on the withdrawal of foreign currency from accounts through bank windows and ATMs over 15,000 UAH within a day, on early repayment of foreign currency loans by residents, on purchase and sale of foreign currency in the interbank market without currency supply, on issuance of deposit certificates by banks.
"During the meeting with bankers, Gontareva discussed the situation in the deposit market and the feasibility of lifting restrictions under the Decree of the National Bank of Ukraine dd. May 30 №328 "On regulation of financial institutions and foreign exchange operations," - the NBU informed.
