In Uzhgorod, they tried to distort an architectural gem (PHOTOS)
Someone attempted to cause harm to the house in the heart of Uzhgorod - number 1 on Voloshin street. Actually, they did: broke down the old woodwork. The owners of the house did that to put new metal and plastic windows - without any permits and approvals that are required in this case.
Designer Volodymyr Pavlyshyn, a member of Uzhgorod Executive Committee, captured it in the photo. He writes in the group "Uzhgorod" in facebook: "Another destruction of the architectural monument of local importance; Unauthorised windows are ready! I have filed a statement to the police! We'll see how it will end...".
Architect Peter Szarvas said to Uzhgorod.in that such vandalism is very disheartening, because it was the authentic woodwork that adorns the building of the XIX century, which are very few in the city. The building itself is truly iconic and has special architectural details. However, they have reacted, and then written a statement to the police and called municipal police to make a report against the offender.
The building in question opens the complex of perhaps the most valueable street from architectural and historical point of view - Voloshin street, one of the main streets in the center, and it is one of the "gems" of the city. Too bad that not everyone understands how it should be treated and that the requirements for the protection of the architectural heritage are not complied with.
