In Uzhgorod buses and shuttles, there will be no Russian music

To avoid conflicts, Uzhgorod carriers were advised not to play Russian songs in buses, replacing them with Ukrainian ones, or do not listen to the radio or records at all.

This was announced during a working meeting by the deputy mayor Yaroslav Shafar and the head of the department of transport, procurement and communications Serhiy Biley.

"Until now, not many Uzhgorod residents have paid attention to Russian music in public transport. Now, when the "brotherly" nation is at war against us in the east, this issue has worsened. In some cities of Ukraine, the problem was solved by banning to play Russian songs in buses, because it distracts drivers and provokes conflicts among passengers", - Serhiy Biley said.

Carriers have requested not to ban music in public transport. "We will talk to drivers, explain the situation and ask not to play provoking Russian songs" - they promised.

In addition, at the meeting, they discussed the issue of bus traffic in evening time. According to Serhiy Biley, Uzhgorod residents have repeatedly complained about the lack of public transport in the evening and asked to extend the the traffic for that time. Carriers replied that on some routes, there are too few passengers in the evening, and it is not profitable to carry 1-2 people.  Therefore, they decided that first, employees of the Department of Transport, Procurement and Communication together with community activists would conduct monitoring of the busiest routes, and then would take up the others. This will help to clarify the situation and develop a schedule of city bus traffic in evening.

Also Serhiy Biley reminded about cleaning inside buses. He said that over the last month the situation has improved, drivers are regularly inspected by the Passenger transportation service that makes them observe cleanliness in vehicles. The number of complaints from privileged population has also decreased, and recently an Uzhgorod resident even wrote a letter of thanks to the driver of the route number 7.
