The Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia visited Transcarpathia

In Uzhgorod, there was a bilateral meeting of Transcarpathian officials with the State Secretary of the Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

The event was attended, from the Ukrainian party - by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Slovakia Oleg Havashi, the Acting Head of the RSA Mykhailo Rivis, the chairman of the regional council Ivan Baloha, the deputy chairman of the regional council Andriy Serbaylo, the Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic Oleg Adamchuk and other officials. From the Slovak party - by the State Secretary of Slovak MFA Peter Burian, the Consul General of Slovakia in Uzhgorod Janka Burianova and other representatives of the diplomatic offices.

First of all, the diplomatic representatives of the Slovak delegation were interested in the situation in Ukraine, especially on the border with Russia. As the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Peter Burian noted, it is very important which way their closest neighbor - Ukraine - would choose. The diplomat said that the countries of the "Visegrad Group", which includes Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, supported democratic settlement of the political crisis and the indivisibility of Ukraine.

Mykhailo Rivis thanked the honorable guests for coming to Transcarpathia and for the support, and suggested to hold an economic forum on cross-border cooperation, border infrastructure development and attraction of investment projects. After all, our region is attractive for foreign businesses because of its advantageous geographical location and unique natural resources.

Oleg Havashi said that after the EU Council temporarily reduced custom duties for Ukrainian goods to the European market, new opportunities for economic cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia opened. Now they only need to speed up the visa-free regime with the EU.

Also at the meeting, they discussed the willingness of Slovak neighbors to assist Ukraine in this difficult time and to continue cooperation between regions of Slovakia and Transcarpathia.
