Today, April 26th, people remember the greatest man-made disaster of our time - Chernobyl.
On this date, according to the tradition, the management of Transcarpathia meets with representatives of non-governmental organizations that care about citizens, affected by the Chernobyl accident.
During yesterday's meeting, they raised urgent questions about the acquisition and provision of medicines to countrymen who suffered from the Chernobyl disaster, a significant increase of prices for medicines in pharmacies that sell drugs to liquidators, absence of preferential service for prosthetics and funds for outpatient treatment, rehabilitation of liquidators in local resorts of Transcarpathia.
The management of the region assured the audience that the government controls measures to strengthen social support for victims of Chernobyl. In particular, local budget provide funds for the purchase of spa vouchers for these people and provision of financial assistance for them.
After that, of Druzhba Narodiv Square, there was a meeting-requiem on the anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy. The leaders of the region, together with the public paid tribute to the victims of the biggest industrial disaster in history, the priests of various denominations held a memorial service for the victims of the Chernobyl disaster.
Note: Currently, in the region, there are about 5 thousand people, who have the status of victims of the Chernobyl disaster. Of those, 2.5 thousand are liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, 290 are disabled by the Chernobyl accident (the average pension - 2,100 UAH), nearly one thousand are children, the press service of the RSA reported.
